EU just had European Pairlament elections. Tldr, the right-conservative formations gained a lot of ground, the EP is now very fractioned, likely the new Commission will not be elected smoothly. In France, Macron's party barely got 14%, Le Pen got over 30%. Similar story for the German governing parties. EU politics will be a thunderdome for the next couple months.
